Sustainability
Less waste. Longer life.
The bigger picture
Manufacturing is the problem. Reuse is the answer.
Around 80% of a smartphone's total carbon footprint is generated during manufacturing — before it's even switched on. Buying refurbished directly reduces that burden by keeping existing devices in use for years longer.
SecondFirst doesn't just resell devices. We extend their life systematically: inspect, repair where needed, clean, certify, and ship with a full warranty.
How we reduce impact
Every device we sell replaces a new one that would have been made. Manufacturing is the single largest source of a device's lifetime carbon.
Devices that reach end-of-life at SecondFirst go to certified e-waste recyclers. Materials are recovered, not discarded.
We track how many devices we've sold refurbished and share estimated CO₂ savings annually. Honesty goes beyond the product.
Carbon comparison
How refurbished stacks up
Manufacturing accounts for the large majority of a device's lifetime carbon footprint, so reusing a device avoids most of those emissions (see Apple's own Product Environmental Reports). Exact figures vary by model and region; the bars below are indicative.
Our commitments
Every device that passes through SecondFirst either gets sold, donated, or sent to a certified e-waste recycler. Nothing goes to landfill.
Our shipping boxes and inserts are made from recycled cardboard. Plastic padding is not used.
We check the battery health of every device as part of our inspection, so what reaches you is a device we've actually looked at — not one we assumed was fine.
As we grow, we plan to publish an annual summary: devices sold, devices recycled and estimated CO₂ impact.
Make a choice that lasts.
Buy a device that's been tested and guaranteed — and that didn't cost the planet a new one to make.
